Other Products

Aside from composting worms, we also sell a number of other complimentary products here at Worm Composting Canada.

Biobags – Who says plastic can’t be composted? Biobags are biodegradable plastic bags made from a special cornstarch polymer. Rather than taking up landfill space, they can be tossed in your backyard composter, or worm composting bin where they will decompose quite readily (usually within a couple months). We are in the process of putting Biobags to the test in several of our composters, and will share our findings on the blog. We currently offer small ‘Doggie 50′ pet waste bags (package of 50), 10 L food waste bags (package of 25), and the ‘MaxAir Kitchen Composter’, which is a handy little container for storing your kitchen scraps (using the 10 L food waste bags) before adding to your compost bins.

Worm Castings – Why wait for your worms to produce ‘black gold’ for you when you can test some out now? We have small 1 L bags of quality vermicompost for $3 (included with some kits) to get you started. Unlike regular compost, vermicompost (also called “worm castings”) is quite potent in small amounts, so a little goes a long way. Simply add a small scoop of it any time you dig a new hole for a garden- or potted plant and watch as it stimulates growth and vitality!

‘Worms Eat My Garbage’ (2nd ed), by Mary Appelhof – Undoubtedly THE book for anyone thinking about getting into vermicomposting! Mary Appelhof, who sadly passed away in 2005, was one of the leading educators in the field of vermicomposting, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with thousands of children and adults alike. ‘Worms Eat My Garbage’ is a fact-filled and easy-to-read guide that provides all the information you need to set up and maintain a thriving worm bin.
