As stated on the home page, we are no longer offering our ‘mini’ bin system. Instead, we have chosen to put more focus on raising and selling high quality composting worms, and encouraging customers to set up their own DIY systems (for more information of how to set up a worm bin be sure to check out the ‘How to Make a Worm Bin‘ page).
We realize that not everyone will want to make their own systems, and also know that some may want a system that’s a little bit more ’souped up’ than your run-of-the-mill worm tub. As such, we will now be offering the new and improved ‘Worm Inn’ – the ‘Worm Inn Pro’.
The Worm Inn
The Worm Inn is a brand new system that employs the ‘continuous-flow’ principle of vermicomposting. The durable cordura fabric used to make the Worm Inn, allows air exchange but does not support fungal growth.
I’ve had two Worm Inns up and running for a number of months now, and I’ve been very pleased with the system, and the beautiful vermicompost it produces.
The ONE real limitation I’ve found with the original Worm Inn is the fact that the screened ‘lid’ only attaches in four spots, thus providing fairly easy access for fruit flies and gnats. I inquired about the possibility of adding a zippered lid instead, and Robyn (the creator of the Inn) was happy to give it a shot – thus the ‘Worm Inn Pro’ was born!
All my original Worm Inns have now sold out, and I’ve decided to only sell the ‘Pro’ version moving forward. My first batch of Inns will sell for $65 (tax inc), but this may go up before too long (the creator of the system currently sells them for $70 USD). If you think you might be interested in purchasing one, please send me an email. I have a very limited number of each colour, so be sure to get your Inn now!
Don’t be fooled by the photos provided – this system is quite a bit larger than it looks. The upper dimensions are 15″ x 15″ and it has a total volume of approx 2 cubic feet. I recommend adding 1 or 2 lbs of worms to this system for best results. Speaking of being “fooled by the photos”, I should mention that these new Inns do NOT have pockets (need to get some updated photos)
**NOTE: The Worm Inn does NOT come with a stand – I personally use laundry hamper stands, purchased from Canadian Tire, but you can hang your Worm Inn wherever/however you chose**
