As is the cased with pick-up orders, we do NOT sell worms “by the pound”, but rather in the form of a “Red Worm Mix”. This is basically worm-rich material taken from our beds and then further concentrated (excess habitat material removed) so as to provide customers with a great starter culture for their vermicomposting systems. Aside from containing many adults, it will typically contain loads of juveniles and cocoons as well – so you should expect to see your population grow quite quickly.
Like our “Compost Ecosystem” and “Red Worm Culture” products (of previous years), the Red Worm Mix will also come with valuable habitat material that will help to inoculate your system(s) with beneficial microbes and other helpful composting organisms. Since it’s material the worms are used to (unlike the usual worm shipping substrate, peat moss) – it should also help them to settle in to their new environment more quickly.
1) “Compost Ecosystem” & “Red Worm Culture” replaced by new “Red Worm Mix”! In previous years, we’ve offered two Red Worm mixes, Compost Ecosystem (aka “Eco-Mix”) and Red Worm Culture – the latter being the more concentrated of the two. We received a lot of positive feedback about these products, but for the sake of streamlining the business and making things a wee bit less confusing we’ve opted instead to start selling a single product – “Red Worm Mix”.

QUICK SUMMARY – Red Worm Mix is worm-rich material taken from our beds then further concentrated. It is an excellent mix for stocking new systems – we recommend 2-3 bags for a typical medium-sized “worm bin”.
**IMPORTANT**:
1) We do NOT currently ship Red Worm Mix to Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, or Newfoundland/Labrador.
2) Also, if you live in a remote location within our shipping range it is very important that you contact us before placing an order (there may be substantially higher shipping charges than have been accounted for with the flat-rates included with the prices below).
3) At this time we are only offering shipments of 2 or 3 bags.
